Illenium partners with NV Concepts to promote suicide awareness, raise money for Suicide Prevention Lifeline

An increasing number of artists within the music industry are addressing the topic of mental health with transparency. Kygo partnered with To Write Love On Her Arms’ Tomorrow Needs You campaign in September in an effort to augment mental health awareness and raise funds for treatment and recovery for those who struggle with thoughts of suicide. Kygo’s alliance with Tomorrow Needs You coincided with National Suicide Prevention Week, which spanned September 9-15 this year. Illenium is the latest artist to join the initiative to promote suicide awareness, in his newly formed union with NV Concepts.

Together, Illenium and NV Concepts seek to simultaneously combat suicide and collect money for the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Illenium took to Facebook to inform fans of his involvement with NV Concepts, and to ask fans to film and share 15-second videos detailing their experiences with depression. “It’s important to come together and know that you are not alone no matter how hard life can get,” Illenium said of the goal behind his campaign with NV Concepts, and the fan videos. In a play off of the word of his sophomore studio album, Awake, Illenium prompts fans to “explain what [their] reason for being awake is,” or in other words, “what keeps [fans] going in life, [and] why [they] stay positive.”

NV Concepts has agreed donate one-dollar to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline for each video uploaded to Instagram. Illenium encourages those who would like to participate to hashtag their videos #Awake, and to also tag both @Illeniummusic and @NVConcepts.
