Tchami drops a double dose of house with ‘Aurra / Shades’ EP
Tchami is never far off with a fresh helping of top-shelf house tunes. The star’s latest work brings the heat from beat one with Aurra / Shades, a new two-track EP arriving on his own CONFESSION imprint.
The release is the first multi-song project from the producer since No Redemption: a collaborative EP with fellow house heavyweight, Malaa. The duo delivered a deliciously dark and slinky array of tunes. However, it’s clear Tchami was looking to lighten things up with his latest release.
“Aurra” leads it off with crisp piano stabs and an ultra-slick bass line. Pitch-switching vocals chop and splash over the driving groove, pushing the song’s energy in an expertly executed ebb and flow. “Shades” takes the EP deeper and warmer, maintaining peak-hour percussion intertwined with gooey synth chords and a surging vocal hook. Both tracks are bright and joyful, with “Shades” especially packing enough sunshine to make the listener wonder if Tchami is striving to soak up the last remnants of summer 2018.
