Wu-Tang Clan and 2 Chainz are linked by DJ Critical Hype on ‘Wu Chainz’ mixtape
Wu-Tang Clan and 2 Chainz on one tape? This could be the hip-hop mashup of the year. Courtesy of DJ Critical Hype, Wu-Chainz: 36 Trap Houses is a mash-up of that hard-hitting old school hip-hop sound mixed with the new age trap. Critical Hype tells Rolling Stone:
“I thought the concept was sick and was instantly curious about how it would sound. Grinding the project out over the last few months, it became clear pretty quickly 2 Chainz’s witty southern raps sounded right at home over the incredible RZA/Wu production. I always enjoy the process of blending 2 different sounds together to create something new – so having the opportunity to do it with a legendary act like Wu-Tang and one of my favorite artists in 2 Chainz has been an amazing experience.”
The new mixtape was released as part of the promotion campaign for Atlanta’s notable A3C Festival, where Wu-Tang will grace the stage as the headlining act. It also serves as a continuation of the superstar group’s 25th anniversary, which saw them put out a brand new album.
