New super group AHZ takes on Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Closer’
Nine Inch Nails have become a legendary rock act with a career that spans more than three decades and multiple Grammy Awards. While Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross aren’t commonly thought of in terms electronic production, the crossover between NIN and sub-rattling festival music is actually quite prevalent. Now, standing at the intersection of heavy rock tropes and electronic music is newly launched super group AHZ, consisting of Brody Jenner, SAVI, Loren Moore and 2Cents’ Adam O’Rourke. Taking on Nine Inch Nails’ 1994 industrial cut, “Closer” AHZ continues to build out their bass-punk hybrid catalog with a menacing new remix.
AHZ breathe new life into the 25-year-old track, leaving the groundwork intact and building a beating mid-tempo monster around the original’s vocals. Thunderous drum arrangements come together with oscillating low-end growls, making for a festival-tent ready setlist igniter and perhaps AHZ’s hardest-hitting release to date.
