Childish Gambino and Rihanna’s film ‘Guava Island’ to debut during Coachella livestream
Last year, news broke that Childish Gambino and Rihanna would co-star together in a new film called Guava Island. Now, the hotly anticipated feature from director Hiro Murai will officially debut during Coachella‘s livestream on Saturday night of the festival’s opening weekend.
With Gambino working alongside the director who also helmed his award-winning “This Is America” visual and numerous episodes of his hit TV series Atlanta, Murai’s involvement suggests Guava Island could be a music video, though the project is officially billed “A Childish Gambino Film.” The film, set and shot on location in Cuba, follows a narrative that finds Donald Glover and Rihanna’s characters in a relationship and Glover’s character getting kidnapped.
Childish Gambino will headline Coachella Friday night (April 13), and Guava Island will premiere the following evening. Tune in to Coachella’s YouTube channel to watch.
