Amelie Lens to spin all night at Amsterdam’s Shelter
Take a daytime stroll through the city square that houses Amsterdam’s Shelter and you may never know it’s there, as the entrance to the underground nightclub is unmarked and the stairway leading into it hides like a secret passageway during the day. Shelter is well worth locating though, particularly on the evening of Sept. 19 as the Funktion-One equipped techno haven hosts Amelie Lens for an all-nighter that’s set to be as intimate as it is intense.
The Belgium-born techno-tsunami that is Amelie Lens is scheduled to play from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., but as Shelter is among the few nightclubs in Amsterdam to have a full 24-hour license, those parameters could be more of a suggestion. Known for her acid-infused minimal style, Lens has been a must-see on this year’s festival circuit, but the chance to see such an extended set is akin to capturing lightning in a bottle.
