New film by Kanye West set to hit IMAX October 25
In accompaniment with his elusive new album, Jesus is King, Kanye West is working on an IMAX release of a film by the same name.
Jesus is King the movie is set to be released on October 25 and promises an inside look into West’s Sunday Service performance at Roden Crater. A statement from the rapper’s team claims, “This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with music from his new album Jesus Is King—all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of IMAX.”
Jesus is King the album was scheduled for release on September 27 yet it still remains on hold, as of now, indefinitely. Kanye had previously on previewed the album’s tracks only to a small congregation of his “true believers,” before previewing the project in select markets over the weekend it was due to be released. Perhaps the record will be ready for wide release by the time the film lands in IMAX theaters…though, considering West’s usual MO, that’s likely a stretch.
