Hot Since 82 offloads new LP, ‘8-track’

For the past two-years, 8-track has been at the center of Hot Since 82’s artistic focus, awaiting its eventual release. And as each of the grains of sand in the hourglass gently fall from top to bottom, time has run out, and 8-track has at last arrived.

In what is no numerical match with its title, 8-track puts forth 13 new songs, three of which preceded the LP, “Buggin’,” “Bloodlines,” and “You Are The Light.”

The meticulous sonic stitching of 8-track allows one album inclusion to seamlessly and imperceptibly transition into the next. Technically, 8-track is temperate and minimalistic, contained yet affective. This is Hot Since 82’s stylistic signature, and he presses it upon 8-track with expert ease.

Hot Since 82 strikes a clean balance between instrumental songs and vocal utilizing numbers. Numerically, Jem Cooke is the most noteworthy of the artists featured on 8-track, with not two, not three, but five respective cameos. The sole other vocalist to get an 8-track invite is Alex Mills, whose talents extend to three of the 13 total cuts.
