Jennifer Lopez, Shakira’s sales numbers skyrocket following Super Bowl performance

Following their Super Bowl halftime performance, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira both saw major sales on their respective song catalogs. According to the initial sales report by Nielsen Music/MRC Data, both artists tallied an 893 percent sales increase in download sales in the US on the day of event. The massive gain included not just the songs the superstars performed during the LIV halftime, but their entire catalog.

Collectively, JLo and Shakira reaped 21,000 downloads on Super Bowl day (Feb. 2) from 2,000 the previous day. Shakira and Lopez sold 13,000 and 8,000 downloads—the sales growth for each at 957 percent and 800 percent, respectively.

As expected, the biggest selling songs were ones that made an appearance during the halftime show. For Shakira, these were “Whenever, Wherever” (4,000; up 1,264 percent), “Hips Don’t Lie” (3,000; up 1,201 percent) and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” (2,000; up 1,456 percent). For Lopez, her top songs were “On the Floor” (2,000; up 1,193 percent), “Let’s Get Loud” (1,000; up 861 percent) and “Waiting for Tonight” (1,000; up 1,266 percent).
