Lee Reynolds and Memo Rex go psychedelic in ‘Long Weekend’

The Road To Desert Hearts has reached its next stop in the form of Long WeekendLee Reynolds and Memo Rex’s convivial entry to the festive series. Both artists’ sensibilities intertwine across the EP’s three tracks, starting with the mellow, but bouyant title opener which bounds through forests of quirky synth accents and sparse basslines. Simple, but effective, “Long Weekend” is a solid opener to the EP.

“Alive Again” harkens to house music’s roots, taking on an acidic tone with squelches of 909 punctured by extra terrestrial sound effects and hints of classic rave stabs. Finally, Delos assists in “Alive Again,” whose faster tempo and atmospheric undertones beg feet to move on the dancefloor.

The Road to Desert Hearts concludes with new EPs from Mikey Lion and Marbs, with the festival taking place a month afterward in April. Get tickets here.
