Amelie Lens shares first release of 2020, ‘Higher’ EP

After teasing its release in her recent live streams, Belgian techno star Amelie Lens finally drops her Higher EP. Shared via Lens’ own LENSKE label, Higher opens on the title track, a deep techno cut starring cavernous synths and Lens’ echoing vocals, reminiscent of her hit, “Follow.” “L’obscurité” turns up the heat a bit, keeping Lens’ trademark style but with a heightened sinister timbre. Finally, the EP closes on Fjaak’s remix of “Higher,” an iteration on the original with the intensity and acidity turned up to 11.

Higher is Lens’ first release of 2020, though she’s already packed the year with live streams and performances. Most notably, in addition to her stellar Tomorrowland set, BBC invited Lens to perform the first four-hour Essential Mix since 1997. Additionally, in February, Lens celebrated the 10th release on her label, LENSKE. Higher marks the label’s 13th release now after EPs from Farrago and Milo Spykers.
