First Listen: Armin van Buuren reconnects with AVIRA for new house single, ‘Illusion’

Armin van Buuren loops back for his second release alongside Toronto’s AVIRA, continuing the excursion into the deeper side of house music that the two producers embarked on earlier this year.

The new single, out August 14 on the Armind imprint, goes by the name of “Illusion,” a title as appropriate as any considering the track’s trance-y first impressions. Soft and melodic synths percolate their way through “Illusion’s” uplifting builds, pulling direct inspiration from progressive sounds along the way, only to be met with a wide and cascading mainstage house drop. “Illusion” at first seems like the ultimate Franken-tune, piecing together traits of several artists and genres, but manages to find its cohesion in the signature elements of Armin’s style that it carries, such as the ethereal trance pads that prop up the tune’s thick and heavy drops.

“Illusion” has made the rounds on track lists as of late, even being featured as A State Of Trance 977’s “Trending Track of the Week,” but can be heard in single form for the first time now on Dancing Astronaut. Listen to Armin van Buuren and AVIRA’s latest collaborative release below.
