Oddprophet curates seventh ‘Black Label XL’ compilation
The weekend of September 26 was a godsend for bass music fanatics. Not only did listeners get a massive dosage of prehistoric bass from Excision‘s own Couch Lands livestream and accompanying Subsidia Records label launch, but they also received the newest compilation of heavy-hitters from legendary UK label, Never Say Die, curated by none other than Oddprophet. Featuring 10 brand new tracks and an exclusive continuous mix, Black Label XL 7 is a must-have in every head banger’s music library.
Black Label XL 7 combines the talents of staples in the bass music scene with the innovation from some of its most promising up-and-comers, all hand-selected by Oddprophet himself. Featured artists on the compilation include Krimer, Badklaat, and Aweminus, as well as rising stars like TRVCY and JoeB, who have already garnered the support of SVDDEN DEATH, Zomboy, and more.
Speaking to Dancing Astronaut on the curation of the LP, Oddprophet said,
“The XL7 compilation was an opportunity to showcase some of the very best tunes coming out from Black Label’s repertoire this year. It was also an opportunity to curate some of the talent coming from the deep underground. As this pandemic still continues to unfold, mentoring students has been a lifesaver from being unable to perform, [and] allowed me to discover my love for teaching and coaching the next wave of producers hitting the scene.
It’s a privilege for me to be able to give artists like JoeB, Speedshift, DemonEyez and others that stepping stone into the next stage of their music careers. Anyone who has tried to get that sort of exposure knows how hard it can be. The three Oddprophet songs are some of my best work, but I’m proud to say that this compilation has meant more to those students of mine who have worked so hard. This one’s for you!”
A gift from a teacher to his students, Black Label XL 7 is truly something special. Stream the newest Never Say Die compilation in its entirety below.
