Anjunadeep shares first ambient/downtempo LP, ‘Reflections Vol. 1’

In the label’s 15 years of existence, Anjunadeep have established themselves as the top force in deep and melodic house music. In addition to their highly curated shows and festivals, one of the biggest drivers of the Above & Beyond offshoot’s success has undoubtedly been the imprint’s critically acclaimed compilation albums. Now, after 11 self-titled compilations and 14 iterations of the Explorations series, Anjunadeep ventures into new territory.

Volume one of Reflections is Anjunadeep’s first go at ambient and downtempo music. Not only does it mark a stellar beginning to the series, but it highlights familiar house artists’ versatility. For example, Lane 8 and Qrion‘s ambient offerings “Apes & Children” and “It’s All Over” respectively showcase a calmer side to the producers’ usual output. Meanwhile, Nox Vahn and Mimi Page‘s rework of Anjunadeep 11 cut “Dream of Love” proves they’re not reliant on a four-on-the-floor rhythm for their skills to shine. James Grant, the label’s co-founder, said,

“Electronica and chillout were what first got me into electronic music and so it’s a very natural evolution for Anjunadeep to be expanding further in that direction.”

Reflections Vol. 1 was preceded by Yotto‘s first ambient offering, “Maggio.” For those who prefer Anjuna’s typical mixed compilation experience, a continuous version of Reflections is available here.
