After ending a nearly three-year-long hiatus, Silk City continue to show signs of life here in 2021, releasing “Volume 3” of their “Especially 4 U” mix series. Although both members kept very busy throughout quarantine—Diplo with his Thomas Wesley country project and Mark Ronson with a remix on Dua Lipa‘s Club Future Nostalgia and a release with Kacey Musgraves—it seems both producers were ready to combine their disco chops once again.

The unstoppable duo ended a short but wildly successful reign in 2018 with “Electricity” featuring Dua Lipa, a chart-topping hit that allowed them to take home the Grammy for “Best Dance Recording” at the 2019 awards ceremony. Given that prior collaborators included superstars like Desiigner and The Blessed Madonna, it was only fitting for Silk City to make their long-awaited return with Ellie Goulding on “New Love,” after teasing the comeback earlier in January.

The mix kicks off with Silk City’s latest release before delving into some funky jams from A-Trak, Chris Lake, the Cassian remix of SG Lewis‘ “Feed The Fire” with Lucky Daye, Dombresky‘s 2019 breakout hit “Soul Sacrifice,” and a groovy Mary J. Blige remix. Of course, they had to include some Silk City history in there, which consists of the MK remix of “Electricity,” and a rework of Dua Lipa’s “Hallucinate” by recent Diplo collaborator Paul Woolford.
