SG Lewis formally announces debut LP with disco-tinted single, ‘Feed The Fire’
The opening lyrics of SG Lewis‘ latest, “I think we’re onto something I want some more,” are an apt description of the reaction that “Feed The Fire” is sure to induce.
The disco-tinted single from Lewis’ forthcoming debut album has already earned him accolades; Annie Mac declared it the “hottest record in the world” on BBC Radio 1, positioning “Feed The Fire” as a hat trick success that is already making a name for itself, following in the footsteps of the Robyn and Channel Tres-featuring “Impact” and Lewis’ solo smash, “Chemicals.” Dressed in Lucky Daye’s vocals and the modern glory of disco sound reworked to fit contemporary times, “Feed The Fire” warmly bursts onto the electronic scene, bringing with it the news of Lewis’ debut album, slated to release on February 19, 2021.
Lewis said the benchmark project, titled times,
“…is an ode to the present moment. 2020 has shown us that the experiences we took for granted in the past are never promised tomorrow, and that the opportunity to dance together may not always be there again. After reading about 70’s New York and the birth of disco, I became infatuated with the euphoria and escapism that the music from that period created, and the safe spaces the clubs at the time provided for people to express themselves. I aimed to create a world musically that captured those same feelings, and to imagine the music that would be playing in those rooms if they were to exist today.”
times will largely delve into disco, taking on the music of another era with Lewis’ own signature twist, as “Feed The Fire” signals. Although times will openly embrace the disco sound and its distinctive feel, Lewis exclusively told Dancing Astronaut, the LP is hardly his first stop in the disco domain. Lewis notably invoked disco on Dusk, the series opener to his concept triptych, Dusk, Dark, Dawn, released in early 2018.
