Deathpact unleashes surprise EP ‘SPLIT // PERSONALITY PT.02’
After remaining quiet through much of 2020, Deathpact made a strong return with the SPLIT // PERSONALITY EP back in April. Now, the anonymous producer continues to showcase their plans for 2021 with a surprise follow-up, SPLIT//PERSONALITY PT.02.
Featuring four tracks, SPLIT // PERSONALITY PT.02 highlights Deathpact’s evolving stylistic shifts, as the mysterious beatmaker incorporates more cinematic synthwork across the new project. “SPLIT PERSONALITY” begins with heavy ambient tones before diving into Deathpact’s dark signature sonics, capped with horns and hums, giving the track an epic ambiance.
“INTERFERENCE_03” meshes twirling samples and groovy tones while “0506+056” brings in spurting synths and shadowy energy. Fit with a heavy drop, “0506+056” sits at just under two minutes, while “INTERFERENCE_03” is only two minutes and 12 seconds. “COALESCE” returns to humming cinematic tones, a robotic voice singing a soft lullaby of, “Go into the machine, we go into the machine.” Beeping machines and fizzing feedback weave their way into the track as the lullaby fades out, leaving listeners with only the sputtering tones in the outro.
Deathpact’s first offering of 2021, SPLIT // PERSONALITY featured a long-awaited ID from the artist, “SONG SIX.” Rather than releasing the original track right away, Deathpact invited REAPER, Claude VonStroke, CloZee, Code Orange, and Jean-Michel Jarre to remix the ID ahead of its official release.
