Bantum turns a ‘New Leaf’ with latest EP

Ireland native Ruairi Lynch, better known as Bantum, completes his New Leaf EP rollout with the full three-track parcel, which manifests as a message: sonically, he’s headed in a new direction.

Highly influenced by electronic music fixtures such as Daft Punk, Four Tet, and Soulwax, the EP takes on an up-tempo, club-suited personality. Jumping in with the EP’s title track, “New Leaf,” Bantum kicks off the project with a layered beat and melodic synth incantation that make it impossible for listeners to sit still. Diving into the second track, “Give You Up,” the producer takes fans on a funkier journey characterized by a driving beat and crisp kicks. The finale, “Stutter,” is Bantum’s most foot-tapping beat yet, paired with sultry piano progression.

On New Leaf, Bantum reflected,

“I had this constant image in my mind of going back to a club or a party while writing the record. It’s funny that these are arguably the most danceable and upbeat tracks I’ve written when there’s nowhere to go yet to let loose! It’s been cathartic to produce this record and I can’t wait to play it live someday.”
