Malive takes a trip to the underground on HUGS-issued ‘Shelf EP’

To date, São Paulo’s Malive has taken his sounds to Noizu’s Techne, Shiba San’s Basement Leak, Box Of Cats, Tchami’s Confession, and now, HUGS. Cue the Brazilian’s Shelf EP, a shuffling twofer that packages the title track and “Team Up” in respective radio edits and extended mixes. “Shelf” featuring Burlington in some ways recalls Claptone’s style on his male vocal-led cuts while “Team Up” exploits the climactic action conferred by a looping sample. The polished product is Malive’s first EP of 2021 and tacks on to the four one-offs he’s put out this year, directly succeeding July’s “On My Way.”

Stream Malive’s Shelf EP below, and stay tuned for following HUGS releases. To date, the label has hosted Malive’s Shelf EP, Kyle Kinch and Friendless‘ “Metronome,” and Bruno Furlan‘s “You Make Me Feel Hot.”
