Blinders sparks STMPD RCRDS’ year-opening project on electric EP, ‘RAV APPEAL’

Blinders wasn’t simply returning with new music, he wanted to make a statement through STMPD RCRDS‘ first project of the new year. Nearly eight months came and went in 2021 before Blinders deemed it time to present his newest chapter. From the outside looking in, “Pressure (Wanna Feel Good)” didn’t appear to be just a one-off single, and evidence to support that—”Body Burner” and “Blind Love”—had begun to amass in the following weeks, with Blinders going on to confirm the existence of an EP—titled RAV APPEAL—and its January 28 due date.

The leadoff to RAV APPEAL had immediately spelt out that Blinders was going to outwardly reinvent his sound after an extended absence. RAV APPEAL‘s latter side sees Blinders add to the exploratory direction shown through its first trio of singles, trekking through a genre-less amalgamation of both ’90s-driven rave sounds and acidic techno on the EP’s eponymous cut and “Lose Control” before building off the deeper side of “Blind Love” with “Android Dance.” Paired with heart-stopping visual counterparts that Blinders himself developed, directed, and animated, RAV APPEAL forcefully exemplifies what permits Blinders to stand out amongst STMPD RCRDS’ pool of dance music’s best and surpasses what he imagined would resolve as an aptly named, timely project for when the world opened back up.
