Lane 8 continues ‘Reviver’ remixes with drum ‘n’ bass spin from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Ever since Sultan + Shepard’s “Survive” rework from February, Lane 8 has been slowly trickling out the updates from Reviver. Following EMBRZ’s take on “Red Lights,” the This Never Happened helmer has now recruited Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) to tackle the album’s track title, marking his first release since his sophomore LP When The Lights Go landed this past September.

The latest Reviver remake takes a left turn from TEED’s typical measured excursions, engulfing listeners in a 160-BPM entanglement for a drum ‘n’ bass take on Lane 8’s original. Keeping in line with both his and Lane 8’s celebrated melodic framework, the remix calls forth yet another creatively abundant output from TEED. And Lane 8 explained his decision to go beyond This Never Happened’s in-house list of remixers, stating,

“We don’t usually look to acts outside of our TNH family for remixes, but I’ve admired TEEDs music for many years and he’s been on our list to work with in some way for a long while. Orlando has always been someone who pushes the edge of genres, constantly re-inventing himself without compromising his vision or integrity. It has always felt to me that he is on a quest to say something new and exciting, or to say nothing at all. And I really love that approach. For that reason, you never quite know to expect from TEED, and so it is with his remix of Reviver, which completely flips the original on its head, going down a frenetic drum & bass/jungle journey. And it works really well for it. Very proud to release it on the label and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”
