Star Monster releases flavorful ‘BUTTERSCOTCH CANDY’ EP
Madison, Wisconsin bass innovator Star Monster returns to the release ring with BUTTERSCOTCH CANDY, a four-track EP with as much flavor as its titular referent. “My goal [with this project] was to take you on a mystical and self-reflective journey while creating a feeling of discovery and bliss in your hearts, minds, and booties,” says the producer, born Phil Parhamovich, of the EP.
Loaded with idiosyncratic samples and throttling, dubstep-guided breakdowns, BUTTERSCOTCH CANDY is full of fun and oddity, a sonic confectionary that reminders listeners to not take themselves too seriously. Though the EP lends itself to subwoofer-supported streaming (sorry, neighbors), it’ll reach its highest potential when deployed live to crowds clustered on dance floors and festival grounds. To date, Star Monster has taken his talents to festivals across the United States, including Electric Forest, Burning Man, and Toxic Summer, among others. As the 2023 festival season approaches, this tally can be expected to grow for Star Monster, who reigns as a must-see act within the bass domain.
