Nate Kest, and his origin story through P.C.A. film

23-year-old Nate Kest has taken a step into visual creation in a big way. His status as a well-known name in the music world has now gone beyond the already-unique storytelling seen in his music videos, seen with the ideation of his latest project, the P.C.A. Film.

Inspired by the early Disney channel-era show Hannah Montana, the young Michigan-based artist and his creative director, CreaTyler, first wanted to bring an edgier vibe to one of their music videos. The footage would portray the nature of the explicit lifestyle that Nate became accustomed to during his come-up as an artist in the LA music industry.

What began as a music video quickly grew in scale as they decided to mold the original concept into a real-life film. Interest in the film was immediately garnered by the production of a trailer, bringing in over 1,000 applications from people wanting to join his growing creative movement. After exiting the ideation stages, Kest took on the triple-pronged role of producing, starring in the video, and creating a soundtrack to ensure his vision is woven throughout the entire project.

P.C.A.’s first scene was just shot at The Peppermint Club, a popular Los Angeles music lounge that welcomes the likes of Drake, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and other A-list celebrities performing on its stage. Kest opened up his sold-out show as himself, Nate Kest, before a quick costume change allowed him to perform as his headlining fictional creation and main character of P.C.A., the masked artist, Motherland.

Since then, he’s hosted shows across the US and has worked closely with big names in the music industry, including multi-platinum producers like NEDO, Midi Jones, and Martin Estrada. Kest attributes his success to a kaleidoscope of factors, including his parents, his hard-working team, which includes Josh Bru, his manager; Crea Tyler, his creative director; and OOOOOOOOCILATE, his cameraman.

Instead of focusing on following trends, Nate Kest is playing an active role in creating them. Along with his manager, Josh Bru of Bruu Management, Nate is making his way into the mainstream LA music industry. It hasn’t always been easy for Nate to find his own sound, with the influence of so many genres and artists surrounding him, but the last 6 years of work and fine-tuning have proved to be instrumental in the formation of the sound that is Nate Kest.

Now a true professional in his field, Kest has written over 4,000 songs, showing his consistency in bettering his practice. His acting in his music videos, instead of looking directly at the camera, has not only allowed him to bring the concepts of his songs to life, but led directly led to the conception of the P.C.A. film that will only continue to catapult Kest to the distinction that he is headed toward.
