Jimmy Pé has ‘Tunnel Vision’

In a short period of time, Jimmy Pé makes an impact. The frenetic audiovisual experience with which the Slovak producer opened his 2023 catalogue is a pithy example. Swathed in lighting of various hues, cryptic scenes unfurl—a phone, a dominatrix hell-bent on a mission, choreography that transpires with rapidity. Visually, it’s a synchronistic match for the feel of “Tunnel Vision,” a succinct single that takes aim at the dark warehouses where it’d thrive in just over two minutes of run-time. The drilling single, primed for live play out, took just two days to make, says Pé who, in press surrounding “Tunnel Vision,” notes he “found the vocal sample and instantly knew what I had to do with it.”

“I love the feeling when you know from the first moment how [a song] is supposed to sound,” he adds. “It’s just like a tunnel where you see the light and slowly approach it. That’s how I would describe the process of this song.”

The listening experience is not as languid. Like lightning in a bottle, “Tunnel Vision” electrifies speakers, hurdling streamers to its ear-catching breakdowns and sending them just as quickly in the direction of the replay button.
