Grigoré creates series of ‘Combinations’ on four-part return to Solomun’s Diynamic

“What’s coming this year? Here’s a few supports of my upcoming tunes.” Grigoré‘s first Instagram post of the year came attached with four IDs that had yet to be formally locked in to anything from name to release date to label. Fast forward to mid-March and half of those have taken the leap from the working title phase to the fully fledged release phase. And for the first time since being named one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2023, Grigoré is back with his first standalone release since his It’s All Fiction EP from November 2022, making the move over from Lane 8’s This Never Happened to Solomun’s Diynamic.

Anyone that’s attended a Solomun set—including his 24-hour marathon at Space earlier in the year—was more than likely bound to hear a sliver of Grigoré’s Combinations EP. And the EP’s title is self explanatory when it comes to Grigoré’s intentions for where he was looking to expand his hybrid of melodic techno and melodic house, with him explaining that the “conception of this EP is mixing of different styles, vibes & etc.” Combinations at its core is just that, with Grigoré mixing and matching a deep stylistic field that includes hybrids between Latin, hip-hop, trance, and techno influences on “El Tiempo,” “Avalanche,” “Combination N22,” and “Rebel.” “The process of producing these tracks was pure fun. I tried to find something new for myself that I didn’t create before and I am more than happy about the result,” Grigoré added, and Combinations‘ final result is an open-and-shut case on why he joined our forenamed artist class this year and marks his label return after his Modern Tranz Opera EP this past summer.
