DA’s Best of the Rest: Thursday November 15th, 2012
Best of the Rest is a daily feature from Dancing Astronaut that recaps the most important posts of the day as well as the stuff we didn’t get to. With the rapidity that dance music news and releases come out it’s difficult for us to hit everything — we hope BOTR serves as a catch-all. Make sure to check it out at the end of each day to ensure you don’t miss anything!
Get way deep with Anjunadeep Remixes Collection 02
Masterful deep house and progressive label Anjunadeep is at it again with the release of their Anjunadeep Remixes Collection 02 which manages to package up ten of the best reworks, reshapes, and re-edits from the scene over the last year. From start to finish this collection keeps it downtempo and groovy in the best way possible; it would work on a late night dance floor just as well as your next dinner party. Unfortunately we do not have a full album stream for you, but we've linked to some of DA's favorites in the tracklist below and if you really love what you're hearing, follow the links to purchase on Beatport.
Lifelike & A-Trak release ‘Don’t Stop,’ Gigamesh, Mauvais Cliché, The Bloody Sisters hop on remix train
We've come to associate French producer Lifelike with fellow countrymen Alan Braxe, the late DJ Mehdi, Justice, and Daft Punk and known he's been working on his debut artist album, Future Disco, for quite some time now. With Kitsune Maison's release of the first single off the album "Don't Stop" as a remix package we now get our first tasty bits of this disco-techno goodness. A-Trak's ever-skillful turntablism complements Lifelike's on-point French electro-disco production. The remix duties go to Minnesotan Gigamesh (who manages to give the track even more of a vintage feel) as well as Parisians Mauvais Cliche and The Bloody Sisters. If that wasn't enough, the EP release also includes club and extended mixes. Check out a sampling below.
Exclusive: Sem Thomasson feat. Colonel Red – Get More [Free Download]
Sem Thomasson, an up-and-coming producer and DJ straight out of Belgium, has recently treated fans with catchy big room remixes of Nelly Furtado tracks and his very own radio show, but today we deliver something exclusively for Dancing Astronaut readers, a free download of a new track "Get More" featuring vocals from UK-Jamaican funkster Colonel Red. "Get More" could have just been a standard progressive house track, but upon a careful listen it's really a powerful vocal piece with a growling bass line and trancey pad work. Take a listen and download after the break.
T3ktone feat. Harry Choo Choo Romero – Beat Of The Drum (Erick Morillo & Harry Romero Remix)
Ain't no party like a Subliminal party? Regardless of the validity of that statement, Erick Morillo and Harry Romero's remix of T3ktone and Harry Choo Choo Romero's "Beat Of The Drum," out yesterday on Subliminal Records is one hot dance floor track. Imagine yourself posted up in front of the DJ booth when this one hits and immerse into the fat bass lines, drums, and snares. Add in a dash of acid house 303 and we've got ourselves a bonafide deviants' anthem. Listen to the full track and purchase on Beatport after the break.
Good Morning Mix – Rudimental, Kidnap Kid & Gorgon City on Diplo & Friends (11/4/2012)
Takeovers on Diplo's Radio 1xtra show are always top quality electronic music, but this recent contribution from our friends over at Black Butter Records including the likes of foursome Rudimental, Kidnap Kid, and the new Gorgon City collab between Foamo and Rack 'N Ruin, absolutely knocked us out of our seats. The three guest mixes showcase the best of the three artists' work to date, some high-powered and glossy remixes, and even some older swagger from The Fugees, Shuggie Otis, and Michael Jackson. We love it, you'll love it too. Enjoy below and follow along with full tracklist.
