Lucky Date releases ‘Freak’ remixes for free
Back in February Lucky Date released the original mix of "Freak" to wave of critical acclaim and heart palpitations. The American producer, who teamed up with Robbie Rivera for a special edition of Axis, has been a leader in grimy electro since the revolution began and enlists three new mercenaries to his cause for the track's remix EP. Joining Lucky Date's army of amphetamine-laced electronica are Our Time, Gold Top, and Ghost Noise, each of whom take the original for three very different spins through a gauntlet of percussive blasts and screaming synthwork. Our Time maintains "Freak's" frenetic electro house pace but pushes the percussion to its absolute limit with a barrage of heavy artillery kicks. Gold Top pulls back on the reigns, subduing the tempo for a trap remix framed by rolling snares and deep horn blasts while Ghost Noise reminds us that dubstep is alive and well with more wobbles than you can shake a stick at.
Lucky Date – Freak (Original Mix)
After starting out 2013 with superb remix of Danny Avila's "Breaking Your Fall," Lucky Date returns to the original release circuit with his first output of 2013. From the very first opening stab, "Freak" screams Lucky Date and his high-octane electro house calling card. Crisp kicks fire off like artillery cannons underneath a wave of squealing electro synth work that lead the amphetamine-laced production into a thrash-ready breakdown.
