Dancing Astronaut presents Axis episode 143: Mixed by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP
Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP take control of our latest Axis to demonstrate how house is handled in the southern hemisphere. The Australian duo are joined by "We No Speak Americano" collaborator, DCUP, on this 14-track funkfest. Opening with Doorly's "Boogaloo," the guys keep things perfectly dance-able and easily digestible, moving through indie dance, bustling house and salsa-inspired cuts. Poolclvb's "What Can I Do" remix makes an appearance along with Superlover's "Love Me," a remix of Nicki Minaj courtesy of Aston Shuffle, and the stand out track from Nicky Night Time "Gonna Be Better." A mid-afternoon pool party in a neat hour-long package, our friends from down under are here to help you shake off the winter cobwebs.
Flume nominated for Best Dance Work at 2015 APRA Music Awards
Flume and fellow Australian Chet Faker are being recognized by the 2015 APRA Music Awards for their Future Classic collaboration "Drop the Game." The award ceremony, established in 1982, is one of the Australian music industry's most prestigious events, created in an attempt to celebrate songwriting in the Australian music industry. Flume and Chet Faker's 2013 hit "Drop the Game," did well to put both talents on the map and is now finally being recognized in the category for "Best Dance Work" at this year's awards. The duo are up against Peking Duck, Neon Jungle, Joel Fletcher and The Aston Shuffle.
The Presets – Goodbye Future (Wordlife Remix)
Following up their 2013 hit album Pacifica, The Presets take on 2014 with the release of their single "Goodbye Future." Enlisting the talented Wordlife for remix duties, The Presets latest output gets a stunning rework from the fellow Aussie. Twisting and chopping Julian Hamilton's vocals, Wordlife transforms the slow-moving original into a bouncy and stutter-filled indie dance gem. A gripping deep bass line and a tasteful approach to the entire process, the remix honors the original's melancholic integrity with a pulsing synthetic undercoat designed with dirty dancefloors in mind. "Goodbye Future" is the first of a series of new singles that The Presets will be releasing in 2014, with Aston Shuffle, Ilan Bluestone and Wordlife all contributing to the single's remix package.
