Get your drum n bass fix with Spor’s debut Essential Mix
Jon Gooch's original production identity, Spor, returned to the spotlight in 2015 after years of dormancy with a monstrous The Prodigy remix and a brand new album dubbed Caligo. While Gooch's Feed Me identity has graced the Essential Mix back in 2012, this weekend's transmission was the drum-n-bass project's debut on Pete Tong's legendary mix show. A showcase of Gooch's alter egos - past and present - the mix showcases both his latest work and the early years of the Spor project. There's classic cuts like "Silver Spaceman" and "1up" pressed up against Caligo's "Always Right Never Left" and the Tasha Baxter-backed "As I Need You." The mix isn't just a showcase of Spor music; Gooch's third side project, Seventh Stitch, makes an appearance a handful of times throughout the 2 hours.
Digital LAB launches Black Label monthly podcast
Miami house poster boy Digital LAB throws his hat in the monthly mixtape arena with the first ever edition of his Black Label podcast. The Size Records representative and "Hit It" co-collaborator opens his mix with a maniacal mash up from Axwell before keeping things decidedly breakneck for the remainder of the mix. Throwing caution (and melodies) to the wind, Digital LAB opts for punchy, main room mischief to define his inaugural podcast. Setting a precedent for whats to come from the producer both in the studio and on the stage, the Black Label podcast laughs in the face of subtlety and puts the pedal to the floor from the moment it it opens. This is one podcast not for the faint of heart.
