Tiesto rings in the New Year right at Ovation Hall at Revel in Atlantic City
Like any native of New Jersey, much of my younger 20s were spent stumbling through the neon lit and awkwardly carpeted atriums of Atlantic City's dated casinos. In terms of luxury and elegance there wasn't much to look forward to along the Jersey coastline. Debauchery? yes, luxury? hell no. When news of Revel's development began, our eyes once again looked towards the Jersey coast. Their mission was bold - make Atlantic City a destination for more than just geriatrics on slot machines. It's aim was to bring all of the luxury and grandeur of Vegas's preeminent hotels to the North East, giving the residents of New Jersey and New York a Vegas of their own. The second we set foot inside the world class establishment last summer for Avicii's performance at Ovation Hall, there was no question -- they had succeeded.
10 tracks to celebrate the End of the World
Well, as predicated by the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, it’s the end of the world as we know it. Unfortunately, only one of us is John Cusack, so the rest of us have no choice but to party into oblivion. At least we can thank the Mayans for conceding doomsday to a Friday. To accompany Armageddon, we have provided a list of tunes that will add appropriate theme music to the backdrop of imminent annihilation. Hopefully, you can find consolation in their uplifting message. Godspeed.
Dancing Astronaut’s Top 25 Underground Artists of 2012: 15-6
The underground had a big year in the US in 2012 and we only felt it appropriate to highlight some of these amazing artists independently from potentially bigger or more commercial artists in the dance music world today. We considered the year these artists have had in terms of production, live sets, and overall influence. We also generally picked artists we love and admire; artists we feel are extremely important to pushing electronic music forward. This list of 25 names includes legends and young guns alike, but we can assure you that every single one of these artists is incredibly talented and is well worth a listen or a trip to a club for a live set. Picking up where we left off yesterday, we will continue the countdown with our picks from #15 to the #6 spot.
Bass Kleph unveils new monthly radio show ‘Klephtomania’
Australian transplant Bass Kleph throws his hat into the radio show ring with Khelphtomania, a genre-exploring, all-encompassing look back on some of the biggest tracks of the moment. Opening with a blend of his own original "I'll Be OK" with Dannic & Jordy Dazz's collaboration "Fuego" the inaugural mix starts off strong and continues through a veritable who's who of big room progressive stunners -- with some unlikely entrants thrown in the mix. Claude Von Stroke and Kry Wolf's latest, "Turbosteppa" makes an appearance alongside Abel The Kid & Keylanders "Zumba Socks" along with Tommy Trash's remix of BKCA's "We Feel Love." It's an admittedly interesting first outing from the drummer turned DJ -- and we can't help but be impressed by the live drum machine performance of Sandro Silva & Quintino's "Epic."
Bromance #7 features debut solo EP from label boss Brodinski
From the moment that Brodinski and his manager Manu created their brainchild, Bromance Records, a new wave of French techno has been being forged by the likes of Gesaffelstein, Jacques Lu Cont, and a batch of other diverse acts. The label's seventh release has been delegated to the boss man himself, and features a two-track entitled "Dance Like Machines" and "Hypnotize."
Dancing Astronaut presents Axis, Episode 027: Mixed by Walden
If you follow Dancing Astronaut closely, then you've definitely heard the name Walden before. Between originals like "A Million Lights" and "Mono World," and his remix of "In My Mind," we've taken quite a liking to the Aussie's productions and we're excited to have him on the latest episode of Axis.
