Pasquale Rotella announces EDC NY to be held on Memorial Day Weekend 2014
After petitioning the town board in Saugerties NY to allow Insomniac to host a festival on the grounds of Woodstock '94, Insominac CEO Pasquale Rotella took to Facebook today to announce that EDC NY would be moving both its date and location. Now scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2014, New York's version of the Electric Daisy Carnival will receive a significant upgrade, taking placing over 3-days with camping and Las Vegas's owl as the center of attraction. While an official location has not been set, recent reports would indicate a possible Woodstock home for the Northeast's Electric Daisy Carnival.
Electric Daisy Carnival New York 2013 Livesets
Last weekend the Electric Daisy Carnival descended on New York City, bringing 90,000 dance music obsessives to Citi Field in Queens for two days of ear-drum destroying bass. With 5 stages-packed to the brim with the dance music's most premier talent and a sea of neon-clad twenty-somethings in tow, EDC NY left its mark on the at-times-too-small parking lot in Queens. If you weren't in attendance or you are just looking to relive the experience, hop past the break for livesets from Porter Robinson, Afrojack, Nicky Romero and more.
Electric Daisy Carnival New York: Day 2 Photo Recap
Overcast skies and an early afternoon rain made Electric Daisy Carnival New York's second day a much different experience than the first but that didn't stop 50,000 dance music fans from descending on Citi Field for a second day of thunderous bass. Once again we found ourselves tucked away in the Neon Garden tent to seek refuge from the weather, an area that developed into a mainstage-sized crowd by the end of the night for Carl Cox and Loco Dice's grand finale.
Electric Daisy Carnival New York: Day 1 Photo Recap
We spent our first day at EDC NY braving the massive crowd and the scorching heat as it bounced off the asphalt of Citi Field's massive parking lot. Sampling the sounds and styles of the festival's 5 diversely-curated stages, we found ourselves gravitating most to the Neon Garden tent - seeking shelter from the packed crowd, sweltering heat, and noisebleed that plagued the festival's other 3 stages.
EDC NY releases festival map, no stages inside Citi Field
Last year Electric Daisy Carnival New York took over Met Life stadium for 3 days in Secaucus, NJ allowing patrons to dance on the same field that the NY Giants and NY Jets played. This year EDC NY embraced its namesake and set up shop at Citi Field in Queens, home of the constantly underperforming New York Mets. With baseball season in full swing - pun intended - questions were raised as to whether or not the festival would be held within the ballpark. As it turns out EDC NY will occupy the parking lots just outside of the field with 3 stages, the Wide Awake Art Car and Neon Garden as the only true arena-type structure at the even
Steve Angello set to play official day 1 after-party for EDC NY
Steve Angello and RPM have just announced the first official after-party for Electric Daisy Carnival New York. Set to be held on Friday night after the first day of dance music at Citi Field, the afterparty sees Steve performing at Pacha NYC - something he has not done since last summer's SIZE in the Park after-party. The last time we saw Steve at Pacha he channeled his Mescal Kid persona and delivered a dark and techy set that surprised and delighted many of his longtime fans. With Trent Cantrell's release debuting on Steve's newest label X and the buzz of Swedish House Mafia already far in his rearview, expect a unique and sonically diverse set from the SIZE label head.
Electric Daisy Carnival New York announces its 2013 lineup
EDC NY 2013 returns to the tri-state area for two days in May, relocating from New Jersey's Met Life Stadium to an official New York location at Citi Field. The festival's second foray into the Northeast market has been scaled back to a two-day affair but will likely feature more of the over-the-top atmosphere than it did in its inaugural outing. Phase 1 of the festival's lineup has just been announced, featuring Calvin Harris, Eric Prydz, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Dirty South, Carl Cox, Damian Lazarus and more. Interestingly enough, Empire of the Sun is also listed - bringing a live performance element to the festival in 2013.
