Doppler Labs raises $17 million in funding for wearable ear technology

Doppler Labs, the wearable tech company behind DUBS Acoustic Filters and its latest Here Active Listening system, has raised $17 million in Series B funding. Investors include Acequia Capital, the Chernin Group, Wildcat Capital Management, Live Nation, Universal Music Group and WME.

In June, the two-year-old startup launched its Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $250,000 to help fund the development of Here: a pair of wireless earbuds tied to a smartphone app that serve as a “remote control for your ears.” In less than 48 hours, Doppler exceeded its goal by raising more than $635,000 from 2,855 backers.

With millions of dollars under its belt, Doppler will put the extra cash toward advancing Here, creating and releasing products more efficiently, and adding to its 47-strong staff based in New York and San Francisco.
