Since their establishment in 2008, the duo of Frederic Berger and Patrick Buck have created a brand synonymous with energetic, calculated techno under the Kaiserdisco moniker. The German duo, who both produce under separate projects as well, have been backed by a number of major techno imprints such as Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and Coyu’s Suara. Their newest EP, Toleranz, will be released Monday, October 24, on Drumcode.
Toleranz includes three original productions from Kaiserdisco, as well as a remix of “SQ 80,” from their 2015 EP Black Light, by the inimitable Pleasurekraft. Prior to their newest EP’s release, Kaiserdisco have made its titular track available to stream exclusively via Dancing Astronaut, as well as Pleasurekraft’s remix. “Toleranz” is a meticulously arranged techno tour de force, driven by acid synths, rapid percussion, and ominous vocals.
Pleasurekraft’s remix of “SQ 80” breathes new life into Kaiserdisco’s original track, enlivening its rhythms and introducing mystical synthesis throughout the song’s course. Pleasurekraft’s remix climaxes in its midsection, where the original vocal sample is transported into a dark, sonorous space that provides a remarkable contrast to the rest of the song’s more melodic aspects. Stream both tracks below.
