Giorgio Moroder to celebrate 40 years of ‘I Feel Love’ with Brooklyn bash

In July of 1977 Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, and Pete Bellotte collaborated on a track that would forever alter the landscape of dance music. The fruit of their labor was “I Feel Love,” an undeniable number known as the first disco hit, “entirely produced with a synthesizer.”

In recognition of that seminal moment in dance music history, Brooklyn’s Schimanski nightclub will honor the fortieth anniversary of “I Feel Love” with an appearance from Moroder himself on July 27th. Hosted by MixmagCasablanca Records, and the Smirnoff Sound Collective, the event will toe the boundary of the past and present in an intimate atmosphere. Best yet, the event is free to attend with an RSVP. Those present for last year’s festivities can attest, it’s sure to be an incredible time.

With lyrics radiating sentiments of inclusivity and acceptance, the track proved to be a sensation in dance culture and revolutionary from a production standpoint.

The iconic track became a key influencer in music production with its synth work and Moroder could be found at the mast of music production after his debut on Casablanca Records, From Here To Eternity—a record that would be instrumental in the conceptualization of house music not long thereafter. Since that debut, Moroder has garnered four Grammys and three Academy Awards for his work.

In the 21st century, Moroder is experiencing a renaissance that has taken his legendary profile to new heights. Recent highlights include a high profile collaboration on Daft Punk‘s celebrated 2013 album Random Access Memories and the release of yet another album in 2015—Déjà Vu which charted #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums Chart.
