Bassnectar releases ‘Take You Down’ EP and Immersive Music Mixtape Side Two
With his Immersive Music tour in full swing, Bassnectar has just upped the ante by releasing both his five-track Take You Down EP as well as the final, fifty minute side to his Immersive Music Mixtape. Lorin first teased the EP two weeks ago with the lead single “Take You Down,” a lush, off-color 808 tune. The newly released EP also contains Bassnectar’s highly anticipated collaboration with ill.Gates, “Expanded,” arguably the biggest track on the EP, as well as the heavy, Primus-approved original, “Raw Charles.” Finally, Lorin brings us a remastered version of “Colorstorm” and a West Coast Lo Fi remix to “Take You Down.”

In a similar sonic territory to Side One, Immersive Music Mixtape Side Two brings us tons of chunky bass music with dexterous hip hop sampling laid on top. The mixtape is pervaded by unreleased Bassnectar remixes and originals: most of which could only previously be heard at one of Lorin’s shows.
