Avicii breaks records for the longest-running No. 1 single on dance music charts

It’s hard to believe that any dance music act could usurp Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky” from its status as longest-running No. 1, but it’s no surprise that if anyone could, it would be Avicii. The Le7els frontman’s folk-inspired “Wake Me Up” has topped Billboard’s young but thriving Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a record 14 consecutive weeks – officially surpassing “Get Lucky’s” previously unmatched 13-week rule. Despite a surprising Grammy nomination snub, the Swedish producer has dominated the Dance/Electronic chart with hits from¬†True, including its second single “Hey Brother.” Sitting comfortably in the top 10 along with “Wake Me Up,”¬† the second True victory marks Tim Bergling’s sixth top 10 tune in less than three years on the Billboard Hot 100.
