Giorgio Moroder and Skrillex are working on a ‘Tron’ video game soundtrack
Disco may be dead, but legendary producer Giorgio Moroder is still quite alive and has been very productive in the studio lately. In addition to producing his first new album in three decades, the master told Clash he would be sharing production duties with Skrillex on curating a soundtrack for an upcoming Tron video game. Moroder said he and Moore already had five themes of “electronic stuff,” and wanted to see if the Los Angeles-based superstar would be interested in remixing one of the songs.
The projects don’t stop there, though. Moroder also says he is working on a soundtrack for a major movie — though he wouldn’t reveal the title of the movie, only that it’s a big production. He also noted he would be working with a “great musician and a great composer” for the movie’s soundtrack. In regards to his upcoming album, cheerfully titled 74 Is the New 24, Moroder has said he is done working with disco: “Disco, I already did. I don’t want to go back,” he said. “So what I wanted to do was have some electronics — and since, dare I say, I co-invented it, I have the right to use them — and then use some elements of disco.”
