Untold Festival launches ‘Pay-with-Blood’ campaign; offers free tickets in exchange for blood donations
Transylvania electronic music festival Untold is taking an ironic philanthropic route as it launches its “Pay-with-Blood” campaign. The eye-grabbing effort is an “original and courageous initiative which draws attention to the real need of blood in Romania,” explains Adrian Chereji, Untold’s director of marketing and communication.
In exchange for blood donations, Untold is offering hopeful attendees a free or discounted ticket to the festival, which will take place from July 30th to August 2nd. 2015’s lineup is comprised of high profile artists including Armin van Buuren, Avicii, Adam Beyer, David Guetta, and many others.
In partnership with the National Institute of Blood Transfusion, transfusion centers were installed in 41 Romanian cities across ten days in July including Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. Untold Festival’s organizers estimate that around 500 fans will earn free tickets by donating blood. Dr. Doina Goşa, director of the blood transfusion center in Bucharest, affirms that “The need for blood is very high, both in the country and especially in Bucharest.”
