James Blake works magic on Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound Of Silence’
Younger generations may not be too familiar with the work of Simon & Garfunkel, but their famous song “The Sound Of Silence” is easily one of the more recognizable rock classics of our time. Take the original and substitute it with gentle synths and James Blake’s flawless voice, and the result is irresistibly gorgeous. Anything the British crooner touches turns to gold, as is most certainly the case with this piece. As his cover was dedicated to a friend who had passed away, the emotion in his voice is palpable as ever, making for an almost more haunting rendition than the original. The cover was premiered on his BBC Radio 1 on October 8th.
