Essential Mix will continue its ‘X’ series in 2016 with a Âme b2b Dixon special
The start of 2015 brought forth a new milestone in Essential Mix history – the X series. With Eric Prydz and Jeremy Olander going b2b for the first mix of the year, Pete Tong then announced that every few months he would invite two acts to the decks and “lock them away in the studio until they come up with some magic.”
No word had been spoken on the X series since the end of September when the Coldcut x Seven Davis Jr episode aired. Now, it appears that April 2 will signal the return of the series – this time with Essential Mix legends Âme and Dixon concocting a special mix. Âme hasn’t appeared on Essential Mix since his 2006 debut that later became Tong’s “prophetic” favorite mix of all time, while Dixon last provided his talents in 2013. As both Berlin artists co-created the renowned Innervisions label, their chemistry together on the turntables is sure to lead to one incredible episode.
