Jack Ü‘s self-titled LP came out just over a year ago, and since then, Skrillex and Diplo‘s project has grown into something few people thought was possible from a dance act. Countless remixes of Jack Ü’s collaborations began to spring up left and right and official remix EPs were put together around a handful of the album’s highlights. However, Mexico City-based producer Jessica Audiffred decided to hold off until the Jack Ü mania subsided before reviving the AlunaGeorge-assisted “To Ü” with a brilliant trap treatment, premiered on Nest HQ.
Taking the original’s tempo down slightly to fit trap’s common 140-bpm, Audiffred swaps Skrillex and Diplo’s anthemic percussion arrangements for wiry synth work matched with rolling bass kicks, leaving Aluna Francis’ vocals largely unmodified throughout most of the remix. Upping the ante on Skrillex and Diplo’s groundwork with her own distinct style, this is likely not the last we’ve heard from newcomer Jessica Audiffred.
