Kesha halts California lawsuit against Dr. Luke

Kesha has dropped her California lawsuit against Dr. Luke, which accused the producer of rape and sexual assault. The proceedings were suspended pending the conclusion of Dr. Luke’s New York lawsuit against Kesha accusing her of defamation. In a statement from her counsel Daniel Petrocelli, the singer professes a desire to focus on her appeals in New York courts while also stating the singer has delivered 28 songs to Dr. Luke’s Sony imprint Kemosabe so as to expedite the release of her next single and album.

This is the latest development in Kesha and Dr. Luke’s legal battles, which have arrested the singer’s career. A New York judge had previously dismissed another lawsuit Kesha aimed at Dr. Luke, accusing him of gender-based hate crimes, emotional distress, and employment discrimination.

The singer’s latest track is a collaboration with Zedd, “True Colors,” which the duo had performed for the first time at this year’s Coachella. That track was released with Dr. Luke’s consent.
