Axwell ^ Ingrosso embrace aesthetic experimentation in new single, “Dancing Alone.” A staple of the Swedish duo’s live sets of late, the trance oriented tune signals a departure from the high powered brand of festival progressive that Axwell ^ Ingrosso energetically exhibited on past releases like “More Than You Know” and “I Love You.”
A number primed for favoritism among the decks of dimly lit electronic dance clubs, “Dancing Alone” unites pulsating synths with titillating kick drums, and the tantalizing vocal talents of featured artist, RØMANS. A welcome step outside of Axwell ^ Ingrosso’s customary sonic constructions, “Dancing Alone” evinces that the production that occurs seemingly outside of the duo’s wheelhouse only indicates the ever expanding nature of the producers’ musical expertise.
