Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, and Phil Moffa team up as GMT to remix a rave classic

When remixing an iconic track, it is hard to strike a balance between adding artistic flair and properly tributing the original. Luckily for Mathew Jonson, the remix of his 2004 techno classic, “Decompression” is in the safe hands of GMT – better known as the super-trio made up of Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, and Phil Moffa.

In Gerber, Troxler, and Moffa’s first collaboration, the producers swap Mathew Jonson’s stiff 80s-inspired drums for a high-energy, body shaking breakbeat. Leaving the track’s dark, brassy melody in place, GMT’s take on the song sits at the crossroads of classic Chicago house and a driving techno beat. Released as part of a small remix EP on Jonson’s own Freedom Engine Records, this cut may help carry the legacy of “Decompression” onto a whole new generation of ravers.
