Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter shares 14-minute edition of ‘Riga (take 5)’

Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk made an appearance earlier this month with the release of a portion of “Riga (Take 5)” via his former manager Busy P’s Ed Banger imprint. Now, the full-version of the track is here, spanning a stunning 14 minutes. The extended track appears to be an alternate version or his soundtrack for the 2017 Latvian film Riga (Take 1), which was nominated for Latvian Film Prize’s Best Score award in 2017.

With a slow build of hardware-heavy techno, alternating rhythms, deliberate sequencing, and filtered synths the esteemed sound engineer proves his worth while moving the sound in real time while recording. Earlier this year, Bangalter contributed a new song to Gaspar Noé’s Climax soundtrack, using his abilities in longer-form, visual content.
