Earlier this summer, electronic music was collectively stunned by the sudden passing of Philippe “Zdar” Cerboneschi, following a fall in Paris. The veteran Ed Banger duo was set to release their Dreems LP just days after the shocking news, and while dozens of tributes from fellow musicians poured in, the world consumed what would likely be the final album from Cassius. Just before Philippe Zdar’s death, Cassius plugged into BBC Radio 1 for an Essential Mix to accompany the new record.

The two-hour bout features cuts from MK, Hot Natured, Robyn, and Cassius among others. The session, recorded in June, was the group’s fourth Essential Mix, following appearances in 2015, 2010, and 1999.
