Four Tet debuts drum ‘n’ bass effort with remix of Krust’s ‘Negative Returns’

Four Tet has shared a remix of Krust’s “Negative Returns,” from the Bristol drum ‘n’ bass artist’s first album in 14 years, The Edge of Everything. The tenured electronic producer ventures into the unknown with his first shot at drum ‘n’ bass, taking on a selection from one of the key instituters of the decades-old genre.

The new remix of “Negative Returns” ceaselessly engages in overwhelming sub-bass and mesmeric rhythms, creating a subtle ambience of escapist leanings. In contrast to the original’s dark tonality, the reimagining captures signature Four Tet traits in its effervescent and tranquil nature. Addressing his latest remix, Four Tet stated,

“This is the first D&B track I’ve ever made, it felt good to do something out of my comfort zone.”

Four Tet’s remix will be featured alongside reworks from Batu and Damian Lazarus as well as Calibre, L C Y, and Flynn, all of which will be released via Lazarus’s label Crosstown Rebels on December 4 and 11.
