The Martinez Brothers head underground conversion of Aluna’s ‘The Recipe’

By this point in the year, the Bronx-born Martinez Brothers would have done some considerable globetrotting, running laps around Ibiza’s live circuit while keeping pace in other dance-centric venues worldwide. Considering The Martinez Brothers’ long and rich history of choreographing what goes down on the dance floor through their multi-hour underground sets, customarily delivered from sweltering house and techno-catering clubs, it should come as no surprise that even during a year where all convention has gone out the window, Chris and Stevie Martinez Jr. are continuing to do just that—for at-home settings. The latest example takes the form of a remix of Aluna‘s “The Recipe.”

An extension of a Martinez Brothers tradition—music to cut a rug to—the alternative take on the Renaissance original invites body work. The production pair swap out the KAYTRANADA-produced cut’s Afrobeats foundation for a beat that flirts with the thumping tech house sound that’s proven to be at the heart of their wheelhouse. The Martinez Brothers further recommend their remix for live play by upping the tempo, a fruitful adjustment that sends the spin twirling its way onto listeners’ playlists.
