Rïa Mehta reconvenes with French-American singer-songwriter Cathy Rocher on “Bohemia,” an ebbing nearly six-minute effort that doubles as their third all-time collaboration. Rocher, memorable for her contributions to “Unsaid” in November 2021 and later, to “Alone” in September supplies ethereal vocals punctuated with feeling to “Bohemia,” Mehta’s fifth original production of the year. The follow-up to “Alone” finds Mehta working not only in the company of Rocher, but also of fellow producer Sean Ae, who assists on “Sol,” the accompaniment to “Bohemia.” The double-sided single is unified in its fluid, mellifluous makeup, which calms and soothes across the two-part production. And whereas “Bohemia” indulges in basslines slightly more than “Sol,” the latter invokes a different, more progressive type of placidity that underscores the remarkable ease with which Mehta melds elements—vocal samples, synths, and other accents—that culminate in calming, cohesive songs.
