PhaseOne launches ‘rocktronic’ label – Sounds of Mayhem – with 8-track comp

Australian DJ and producer PhaseOne, a prominent figure in the electronic music scene known for his distinctive fusion of bass and metal, is cementing his commitment to the genre he dubs “rocktronic” by launching his own record label, Sounds Of Mayhem Recordings.

The label is a natural progression for PhaseOne, embodying his core themes of freedom, anarchy, and fun, which have been integral to his personal artistic journey. The imprint seeks to elevate sounds that thrive in the intersection of bass and metal, fostering a sound meant to stir up a frenzy. And the label’s debut output does well to set the tone for its future.

Metal and bass collide in a supernova of sound on the self-titled 8-track compilatio. The entire affair is a chaotic, high-energy mix of established artists and emerging talents that’s more thrash-able than dance-able.

Alongside an original track by PhaseOne himself, the remaining seven are an amalgamation of intense, rock-forward sounds from artists such as Akeos & Lusumi, Bainbridge & High Zombie, JEANIE & Dino Shadix, DVEight, AVEON, and YUSSI & Neotek, with a standout four-way collaboration from Fransis Derelle, CRaymak, Tea Timerz and Frank Zummo of Sum 41.

As PhaseOne describes, the spirit of ‘mayhem’ is at the heart of this effort, symbolizing the chaos, rebellion, and freedom inherent in both metal and bass music.
